Hello, I have a tire question??

My older rims are all 622x16 700c running 700 22c and 700 23c
tires
622x13 700c running 700 22c tire

Since the newer tires are all around 622x23 700c, is this a problem for the older "narrower" rim sizes??

And, Ffor instance my very nice Rigida DP18 (18mm width outer) have new Schwalbe Ultremo R 622x23 700c and everything seems fine.

My Mavic open 4CD (19MM width outer) have factory original 622x20 700c tires but occasionally refitted 622x23 700c. and a bit puffy but fine.

I would imagine its like automobile tires where you try to get the tire as close as possible to rim size for less sidewall flex from bludge.

Any ideas?

I'm running variously Mistral, Araya, SunM13, and Mavic Module E rims all about 19-20mm wide (outside) with Panaracer 700x25's tires (measuring ~24mm).

- They look like they were made for each other.

There is of course a limit to how wide you can go, but generally a slightly wider tire rolls just fine, and feels a little cushier, especially for heavier riders.
I have not heard the "narrower tire for less sidewall flex" before, but IMO that does make sense, since skinny tires do ride harder.
