Looks like a mid 1960s Gitane Venger model.

Here's a better picture showing the same decals on a Track Standard model.

Great deal for $6.00! Very Happy

Current value as just a bicycle is probably ~$25-$50.

For someone interested in the bike as a 45+ year old collector's item, maybe $100.

Hi, I purchased the 1966 Venger (price undisclosed but reasonable) seen above and restored it as much as practicable. Maybe I spent too much in the end but it was fun and the bike rides nice. All bearings were removed, cleaned and/or replaced and greased, and the wheels were trued. The luggage rack and kick stand were removed. Parts added were: new old stock Atom cassette , pedal dust caps, shifter lever hold down cap screws (to replace the machine screws), cables, cable jackets, bar (cloth) tape, crank cotters, and tires. I tried white wall tires (per the 1966 catalog) but they wouldn't stay on the rims at pressure and I didn't find a wide selection of them to try other brands so I settled for the gum walls. I have an Ideale saddle for it also but it was too uncomfortable so I am using the Brooks for now since the bike is being ridden frequently.

My head badge decal is different ,mine has a generator mount , thats a pic of jablanski not anquetil like on my other bike, and it has mounts for a chain guard and brazeons for racks and pump pegs. Also cantalevers. I paid 80 plus shipping.

Nice! I like the color. Interesting that it has cantilever brakes and the fork top is not chromed either. These things seem scarce; I haven't seen a whole lot of bikes of that year.
