Long story short -
I bought this bike off a friend for very cheap. The decals are actually remnants of 'Harry Perry'. He took those off as they looked very badly put on/not original. One day, he was riding around and was chased by a man who claimed the bike my friend was riding was stolen from him and is in fact a Gitane (my friend bought the bike off someone else). The metallic blue looks original but the yellow details on the fork and seat stays don't, and look plausibly like they might have been sprayed to stop Identification.
The only thing that's branded on it is the seat post binder bolt that one one end reads 'Miche. Made Italy' and 'Sugino' on the other.
Any ideas? Gitane or not? If not, what could it be?

Tell your friend that it is DEFINITELY NOT a Gitane!!! 
It looks like an Italian frame from the 1980s, maybe late 70s.
It could be a custom made frame too. Looks like a custom paint job.
Gitane NEVER used those style lugs, fluted seat stay caps or fork crown.
Tell him to enjoy his mystery bike!  |

Alright cool. Thanks. It might be from the Harry Perry shop here in south London, i'll have to ask them. Apparently they bought frames and put their own decals on, so maybe that's exactly what it is...
