Looks like a 1974 or 75 European model Tour de France.
The components are probably all original.
The Huret honeycomb dropouts were designed to work with Simplex, Huret and Campy style derailleurs.
The front stop was designed to work with Huret derailleurs.
Your derailleur needs to be removed and set back to the proper stop on the dropout. You may have to adjust the chain length too. |

Thanks. What is the difference between the Tour de France and Interclub models? |

Depends on the year but the differences were in the frame material and components.
The Interclub was Gitane's entry level "club" or amateur racing model. The Tour de France was their mid range racing model.
From 1968 until the end of 1973 Interclubs used the same frame as the Gran Sport model except for racing style forks. They had alloy sewup or tubular rims, alloy bars and different cranks than the Gran Sport otherwise the components were the same.
the 1969-1974 US model Tour de France had an all Reynolds 531 frame and mid range performance components.
In 1974 Gitane switched to the Huret honeycomb rear dropouts for all of their "performance" models.
Beyond that the details get murky because there were so many model variations.
Take a look at the catalog section. |
