I have a Jacque Anquetil frame in Vitus 971 that I believe may be made by Gitane. I am trying to fit a sealed French BB ,a Stronglight Al boby\Ti spindle .The problem is that the BB shell is threaded all the way through the shell and the BB can not go all the way. The BB threads look clean but a small burr or whatever is stopping it. My mechanic can't get much leverage on the al boby to push it. I am open to ideas to get it to fit ?? OR??? Is there somewhere within driving distance of Asheville ,NC where a FRENCH threaded BB shell can be chased?? Thanks,Ken Then comes my Gitane 84 Criterium! |

Have you tried Dale Brown at Cycles de Oro in Greensboro? (336) 274-5959 is the shop number. Dale is the listmaster for the classicrendezvous list and has more than a passing familiarity with French stuff. If he doesn't have access to the tools needed, he probably will know someone ... |
