My wife and I will be in Paris next Tuesday to celebrate our 25th anniversary (just a day trip from London). I had to make sure to warn her last night that I will be taking photos of classic bikes - especially Gitanes when I see them.
Gotta say I can't wait to get there. I might have to check into shipping from France to the U.S. should I come down with a case of the "gotta have its" |

Don't forget to pass by La Bicyclette. They are Gitane experts and usually have a few old Gitanes packed away in their shop. And if you are looking for something specific, they have several hundred bikes stocked away so call them in advance and they speak english. The shop is family run and the father bought lots of old Gitane pieces at the factory when they were getting rid of brazed bike equipment in the early 2000's (his story)
another place (talked to them but never passed by) is:
http://www.velo-vintage.com/bikes.php#
But seem to be open only after 5 pm.
They always have a stock of interesting bikes for sale.
