gitaneusa.com Forum Index » Vintage Gitane » just noticed    View previous topic :: View next topic  just noticed   Posted: Tue Oct 08, 2013 4:45 pm lofter Joined: 05 Mar 2006 Posts: 1162 ive had my eye on this vigorelli http://www.leboncoin.fr/velos/547433730.htm?ca=7_s on leboncoin for awhile now . the price has dropped almost every time the seller repost it I noticed that the shifters were in a normal position . then I looked at the 82 catalog http://www.gitaneusa.com/images/catalog/1982/british/1982-British-catalogue0003.jpg and noticed that they are in the tight aero position on top of the down tube . then I went and looked at the 1980 catalog and noticed my road profile shifters are in normal position and the 1982 catalog they are in the aero spot on the down tube . I hadn't ever noticed this . This Vigorelli has the shifters on the side for that reason. I can see on the one you posted where they couldn't put the aero shifters on it because of the frame size, but not on the two I referenced. they are basically the same size. the only thing I can think of is that they wanted to take advantage of the upcoming aero craze that the industry went thru . where were the shifter boses on your vigorelli's?   Posted: Sun Oct 13, 2013 10:18 am Frenchbuilt Joined: 18 Apr 2007 Posts: 443 Hi both on top "aero position".
