PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE - I HAVE NO RELATIONSHIP WITH SELLER
Half of the listings for older bikes and components on eBay include the word RARE! These include auctions for Peugeot U-08 bikes which were probably the most common imports from the late 60s through the early 80s.
So, I use the word RARE cautiously!
This bike is an exception!

It's an all original 62cm 1968 Gitane Super Corsa (listed as 61cm but that's probably center to center - Gitane measured frames center to top).
The bike pictures show Campagnolo Nuovo Tipo hubs with clincher rims but the description lists the original Campy Record hubs with sewup rims.
It also shows a honey colored saddle but the bike probably comes with the original black Ideale 90 saddle.
There were probably far less than 500 of these 1968 Super Corsas imported into the US 45 years ago and maybe 50 in this size. My guess is that less than a handful still exist - that makes it very RARE!
I think that the price is right too considering the condition and components.
BTW, the value of older French bikes has been going up. |
