For Sale: 1984 55cm Gitane Tour de France - $500 USD plus shipping.
I'm selling one of my 1984 Gitane TdFs - 55cm Seat Tube Center to Top, 56cm Top Tube Center to Center.
I have one of these TdFs that I bought a few years ago with maybe 100 miles on it. Shortly afterwards I found this one so I bought it too.
The bike is in good condition with no rust on the painted surfaces and a few spots on the insides of the chrome plated forks. The paint has a few chips and the decals have a few scratches.
It's all original except for the wheels, saddle, derailleurs and brake hoods.
The original plastic Ofmega Mistral derailleurs were replaced with metal Ofmega Master Deraillers.
Ofmega Mistral RD
Ofmega Master RD - these are copies of Shimano DuraAce derailleurs and shift just as well.
The wheels have Suntour hubs with Araya anodized clincher rims and stainless spokes. The tires should be replaced.
1984 TdFs used the same Super Vitus 983 frames as the 1984 Super Corsa. They were painted redish orange vs. the SCs which were blue.
The top 4 Gitane bikes had the same frame geometry in 1984.
These are some of my favorite riding and handling bikes. This TdF weighs about 23 Lbs. with clinchers.
The bike will have Maillard areo pedals or Look clipless pedals.
The BB, hubs and headset need to be repacked.
