Hi. I've been looking for a vintage bike for daily use for quite a while now. So today I stumbled upon a brand new (in terms of use) vintage model of Gitane. And that's the reason I'm here.
I found the bike at a garage shop in Germany. The former shop owner deceased and his wife, who now sells the remaining bikes, couldn't give me any info on this one.
So I couldn't find any info on the internet so far. From checking the catalogues I would maybe date it to late 80s/early 90s.
It has a Shimano Positron gear, so I think it might be a rather low budget bike. The price would be around $500-550 (420€).
Has any of you guys an idea about a year or model? And would you recommend the deal?
many thanks in advance

Looks to be as good as new, but do a Gitane search on German eBay with a filter on "Verkaufte Artikel" and you'll get a feel for the prices. I probably wouldn't pay more than 150 Euro for the bike you are inquiring about and probably even less then 100.
Depending on how important the rack and the mudguards are for you I would also note that between 100 and 200 Euro you'll get a racer of significantly better quality. |
