Greetings Phillip,
The frame is a 1975 Interclub.
Why?
In 1974 the head tube decals were yellow or green depending on the frame color.
The 1975-6 Gitanes had a black head tube decals.
The Inteclub and Tour L'Avenir frames were probably the same.
Your frame had a cottered steel crankset (acier pédalier). The Tour L'avenir had Sugino Maxi cranks (dural pédalier)

This is a 1975 Gitane poster showing the Tour L'Avenir with a description of the Interclub.
The seat stays (haubans) on your frame are 12mm same as the Tour L'avenir but Tour de France frames had 16mm seat stays.
The headset is a standard Gitane model. The Tour de France bikes came with Stronglight P3 headsets.
Tour de France frames from 1974 on had long point lugs. Also, the 3 main tubes were made of butted Reynolds 531 tubing (3 TUBES RENFORCE)
The Tour de France bikes used 26.4mm seatposts (tege de selle). The other models would have had smaller diameter seat posts.
The Tour L'Avenir and Interclub models were amateur racing models. They had a good ride and handled well.
Hope that this answered your questions. Good luck with your sale. |
