As some of you may know, I won an Ebay auction about three weeks ago - a 1987 Team Pro. Unfortunately, the seller has been a complete flake. First, he was late in getting me the invoice. Finally, he sent one, and promised that he would (1) sell me the bike and (2) send it to me. Well...that was two weeks ago, and after I sent him the money, he has not replied to a single email or telephone call. So I tried one last time to talk to him, and again...silence.
So now, I have made a claim via Paypal. We will see if he replies to them. I still want the bike (of course!), but I am not about to give anyone almost $1K for nothing!
Unless it is one of you good folks...naturally.
We'll see what happens. But for now, I am completely bummed out.

Bummer. Lets hope this joker comes good, with either the bike or the cash. Bad karma ripping people off. Not real smart doing it to a lawyer either..... |

Mr. John Montes, the seller on ebay whose moniker is "gitane89" did not send me the bicycle, and hasn't been regularly corresponding with me. He also did not respond to the PayPal notice, and so every penny of the money was returned to me.
However, I STILL WANT THE BIKE!!! I am going to try something else to get it. Please look out for it online in case he attempts to relist it. If he does, I will go ballistic. |

Steve, Sorry to hear about all of your troubles. I was bidding on that bike too.
There should be some way to bring fraud or attempted fraud charges against the perp. Since you both live in CA there may be something you can do through the AG's office.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Received a telephone call from the seller's wife...they have been "indisposed" for a while...he was sent away with the Army, which accounts for the delay. I sent a nasty email to them, which I feel very bad about...although it did get a response.
I am hoping that we can get the deal done. Will know more this weekend. |

Spoke with the seller today...we have worked out a deal for the frame, which should be shipped this Tuesday to me. So...hopefully by this time next week, I will have the bike! |

There was a "Team Pro" on eBay last week. The seller started with a "Buy It Now" of ~$500 but quickly lowered it to $249.99 where some one grabbed it.
It was probably a Super Corsa Super Vitus 983 frame with lower end French components. It looked nice but it was 1 size too small for me.

The red one WAS a TdF.... One size too small.
There was also a Touring frame out of Seattle with cantilever bosses and as Lofter mentioned the "Team Pro" which was a ???? (but went fast at $249).
