Larry from Portland OR on ClassicRendezvous is selling a 1988 Gitane Super Corsa 60.5cm c-t for $450.

curmudgeon1957@yahoo.com is his email

He's posted photos of it at his flickr site:

There's not much intensity of interest in Gitane on the ClassicRendezvous list, and this bike is ideal for GitaneUSA, and I know is the right size and price for several over here, so I thought I'd out it on this forum. I hope Larry wouldn't mind.

Here is his CR email:

We had our monthly Bay Area Classic Rendezvous ride yesterday. The theme was French bikes and there were several nice early 70s Gitanes on the ride. One of the guys brought his TdF from his high school days.

I didn't go on the ride yesterday, I'm just getting over an injury to my left quadriceps.

Thanks Chas for the images of the Purple '72 S.C. Looks even better in these recent images than the earlier post in September. Boy that looks like a wonderfully preserved finish. I'm pretty excited starting to work on a couple winter projects to clean-up, restore a blue '70 TdF and hope to receive a matching white '71-72 TdF next week to go along with my white '71 & '72 Interclubs. What I like about Dave's TdF is that it's obvious that he RIDES it. Much like my '71 Interclub, I've got all the original components; but I've used it as a daily ride/trainer for the past 36 years so I've modified (clinchers for easier / less costly tire maintenance, seat for comfort, freewheel cluster, lower gearing, handlebar wrap, and quick release pedals). Now if I can only find a 25.5" White Super Corsa. Show me a Carbon Fiber frame after 35 years of use & abuse. I like steel.

On frame forum, it is often referred to as carpet fibre!

Show me a carbon bike after just 5 years of use/abuse! Most are pretty battered. I see the occasional 10 year old trek or giant, and they are wasted. 35 years? Not a chance!

CFRP - Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic! The epoxy resin binder doesn't hold up too well when exposed to the elements over time.

It's the Big Wheel generation - grown up!
