My apologies in advance as this topic has probably already been beat to death on this and other forums.....
My old Detto Pietro art. 74's are just about worn out, and I wondered if any of you can share some good suggestions for new cycling shoes to use with quill pedals/toe clips. I'm looking for something with a stiff enough sole and good enough ventilation for rides up to about 100K.
Thanks, |

Hello, i had the same problem and finally got the luck to find new
unused DETTOs in my size on e-bay, but the search lastet nearly a year.
The only manufacter of old style cycling shoes, that i know is Marresi from italy. (type Storica)
Beautiful but quite expensive. (see link)
greetings,Holger

Adidas Eddy Merckx cycling shoes frequently show up on US eBay as well as Detto Pietros and other old brands. You may have to look around for a while to find your size.
I too looked around for almost a year to find the right size shoes.

Holger, Chas and Wisey,
Thanks for the suggestions! For right now, I'm kind of making due with a 15 yr old pair of specialized mountain bike shoes (the Detto's are coming apart at the sole and have shrunken from storage). The mtb shoes sort of work, but have no ventilation....my feet get pretty toasty by the end of a ride.
The Marresi and Duegi shoes look very nice, but are probably a bit out of my price range for now. It's at least good to know a couple of makers can provide shoes for slotted cleats.
I guess for now, I'll probably have to keep an eye out for a set of Detto Pietros (etc.) on Ebay...finding them in my size (44.5 or 45) will probably take a while.
Take care, |
|
