Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I have two Gitane tandems
One I bought used in 1979. It is a "Touring", green paint, Simplex groupo, Mixte for the stoker. I've had to update a few components as they wore out. The stoker's handlebar was like the captain's with the "drops" style; but now is just a somewhat straight bar. The wheels are 27x1-1/4" . I can't seem to find the serial number.

The second is a Rallye. I bought it new in 1984. The wheels are 27x1-1/2. Blue paint. Everything is original. My wife's health has not allowed her to ride with me, so this unit doesn't have many miles on it. It still has the original tires.

Both bikes are hanging upside down in my garage, so they are not easy to get down without some help.

I'll see about getting some pics of them.

However, it is the older one that I am interested in finding an age for.

Whoops,
The Rallye is not a Mixte.
The tires are 700x35 not 27"
I just ran out to the garage to confirm.
Sorry about that.

Here are some pics
The green one is the old one; the blue is the 1984 model

The older one is from the early 1970's. It will be difficult to narrow down the date, because there were few telltale marks aside from the decals, which (that design) were used from the late 1960's through about 1975 or so.

I would love to see pics of the complete bikes...

Sweet. Love the matching fenders. You must be a giant to be able to ride that rig.
