Here are pictures of my Gitane, owned by me since new.
It has had a couple of changes to the components since new. Purchased in Melbourne, Australia.
The bike came with Shimano 600 arabesque groupset, durace hubs. Not sure of the model name.
At the time I think they were a clearance line due to a change/bankruptcy of distributor??? Others might know more.
In 2003 I bought a second hand Campagnolo Veloce groupset and these are the current components. Earlier this year I replaced the 600 head set with a Campag one.
Frame is Vitus 971 with french threads, seat tube 56cm C to C, top tube 58cm C to C. Original paint and decals...a bit scratched in parts. Only has one bidon mounting point.... on the down tube. Bike came with bolt on cable guide at BB, now has under BB guide. Seat has also been changed.
hope the pics work

Adrian,
Thank you for posting. The pictures look fine - I can see two.
That's a lovely and comfortable looking machine. How many miles has the machine covered since new?
What does the sticker say above the 'G' on the headtube?

It is a foil decal from Suntour, with the suntour logo and
words (can't recall at moment...will check later).

Adrian,
Thanks, I thought it may have been an additional Gitane sticker of some type.
