Hi

My son has been riding our 73 TdF at school in Monterey. His friend snapped a pic of it at the beach the other week so I scanned it in for you all to enjoy. I just set-up the bike for him to ride so it has a 7-speed cluster and STI brifters, ala Sheldon Brown. He has been putting in some miles, we rode a century together in September. So I can say that this is one old TdF with a new lease on life.

Jim

That's a very nice photo and bike, thanks for posting. Well done on the century ride, that's still a goal of mine.

Nice '73, Jim! Thanks for sharing the photo. Also, just curious...what crankset are y'all using?

Hi Ron
Just got back from a busy holiday. I had a Sugino Mighty crankset sitting around that I put on so that my son could use modern pedals. IIRC, Sugino cranks were used on some of the later 70's TdF, but mine are not original - they came from an early 80's Colnago Super I had raced back in those days. All the original Simplex and Stronglight parts are currently in a box in the shed. Sometime, when I restore it vintage, I would like to upgrade to Simplex SLJ.
