Hi all -
Here is for most of you, I am guessing, an easy question but for me has me scratching my head:
I have a Gitane Team Replica - this is the one that is Columbus tubing, cinelli bottom bracket shell, but french drive train and modolo brakes (for an added visual, has the number tag hanger).
Have repaired and re-painted the frame, replaced the headset with a campagnolo, and found NOS campy braze-on shifters and a campy braze-on front der. So far so good, except that the braze mount that Gitane used will not accept a Campy braze-on front der. of the same vintage - needless to say I feel pretty stupid having purchased the thing already and had it shipped to me here in Canada. Obviously (except clearly to me) a different shaped mount was used I suppose? So to cut to the question - has anyone ever fiddled with something like this - is there such a thing as an adaptor for this, or do I need to seek out and find a supply of Simplex braze on front der.? ; )
Any advice would be greatly appreciated -
From a cold, dark and snowy place -
