Iv'e got a good idea where all of the Cyclomondo decals should go EXCEPT for the "email luxeporlymerise" or whatever it says....WHERE does that one go? Can anyone upload any good photos & closeups of that one? Excuse me counselor, I object. My Interclubs & T de F Circa '70-73 and this sticker decal is on the drive side rear chainstay. I present the following evidence. The '70 TdeF: The '72 Interclub: The '73 TdeF: From my Gitane stable we swear the above images to be truthful, The '71 Interclub, and '72 TdeF are also on the R side chain stay. I rest my case. Back in the 70s when I was assembling a lot of Gitanes for display and for sale, I saw these decals on the right side, left side and occasionally on both sides. We had no idea what they meant. The ones on the right chainstay frequently got damaged by the chain so we usually removed them when we serviced these bikes. Can you shed any further light on the transfer and information it contains? Did this transfer appear on all models, just some and when during the '70s? The use of the word 'email' at that time is very interesting, or did the word have a completely different meaning then? The French were certainly very advanced in telecommunications with their Minitel System, but I think that was later than the '70s. Perhaps there's a link to other early electronic transmission protocols. I have no idea but It's intriguing. It wasn't so much the quality of the paint that Gitane used as the high filler content white primer which had very poor adhesion to the metal. This coupled with the very poor packing job done by Gitane resulted in a lot of scratched up brand new bikes. Gitane sent us a whole set of 3 oz. cans of touch up paint in all of their colors plus an unlimited supply of Gran Sport style foil decals. The faster Pierre the painter painted the frames the quicker he could take his wine break to clear his head of all of the paint fumes! Just got back from a frigid ride ---19 degrees and 25-30mph NW winds---at least its dry. May have to spend some time on the Kreitler's the next 24-48hrs while this front passes thru.
